Forged Metal Pendant with Purple Dichroic Glass - Folded Metal Pendant

This is an unusual "forged" metal pendant, made with a hammered copper back and a shaped nickel silver front, encasing a beautiful piece of dichroic art glass. The glass has a purple section, and blue-green highlights.

Shaping metal with this technique requires that the artist continually heat and hammer the pieces, until the final shape emerges. (Picture a blacksmith working, only on a very delicate scale.) These metal pieces had to be shaped especially to fit around the glass piece; once perfected, they were riveted into place.

The finished piece is hand polished to preserve the surface shine.

You can wear this piece on your choice of chains, ribbon, or leather thong. (The pictured black necklace is included.)
